Summer Blog

Over the summer, I went to a basketball camp with the school team. We played multiple games throughout that day and it was really fun. There was one game that I liked the most. We beat this team of like 7th and 8th graders 85-20. They were super trash. Everyone on the team scored so it was pretty lit.      I look forward to this camp next year and hopefully we can see this team again and hold them to 0.  It was a good experience to meet everyone on the team and just had fun with basketball. I'm also excited to not be a freshman next year. Hopefully the camp will be equally as fun next year.

Tears of a Tiger

The second book I read over the summer was Tears of a Tiger . The book was very sad, surprisingly. In the book a group of drunk teenagers get in a wreck and one dies. Basically throughout the book the driver and main character, Andy, of the car feels really guilty and bad. The book made me make sure I am always making the right decision and staying cautious.      I noticed that in the book, the only person that blames the driver for the death was the driver himself. Everyone else tells him to not worry about and to learn from it. But to Andy, it was much more than a mistake. No one else seems to understand that. That is a very interesting part of the book to me and I think it applies to life a lot. When your in the center of situations you can see all sides and react different than everyone else. Anyway, this was a great book that I recommend to everyone.

My Goals and Introduction

What's up friends and fellow classmates?! My name is Nick and I will be talking about my goals for this year as a writer/ blogger. I plan for this course to help me grow as a writer. I would like to improve on things like grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, etc. I haven't really been good at writing in my life but I hope to be so by the end of this year.      Doing these blogs will help me learn to express my thoughts on topics in the most effective ways. I think it's important that we know how to write well and effectively. It helps us get our opinions out there, and practice makes it easier and easier for people to get what we are saying. I'm ready to be able to write good and understandable papers. I'm excited to see how this goes this year.

Introducing My Book and This Year's Goals

As I was reading, I noticed that books have very controversial aspects to it. My first book, Hoopster, was about a boy named Andre Anderson and his cousin Cedric and best friend Sean. All three of them love playing basketball together. But, the story focuses in on another passion that Andre has, writing. He works at a writing shop where he posts articles for the paper. One day, his boss gives him a big opportunity.      Andre was offered to write on the front page of the newspaper. He wrote about racism and why it's not ok. Later on in the book, people are on violent towards him, but he isn't violent back. The book taught me to never answer with violence. This year I plan on improving on my writing skills and making an A in the class. As of now I'm not a great writer, but hopefully I will by the end of the year. I think writing is a good way to express ourselves.
