Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

     I am currently reading Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. The book is about a prince named Alek who is running from his own people with only a small group of protection. The other main character is a girl named Deryn who is thrown on an airship with Alek where they fight side by side. The airship is called Leviathan. In the book, I have noticed some of the author's skills that we learned about in class.

     The story is told from a 1st person point of view by the characters, which grabs my attention and makes the story more enjoyable. The book is in a very orderly structure. It mainly starts out with introducing Alek and Deryn, talking about their backstory and situations. I am currently reading the bulk, or action-filled part of the story. The first person point of view also makes the book more emotional for me, making me feel like I am in the book. Overall the author uses his writing skills very well.

What are you grateful for?

     As I grow older and the years go by, I notice more and more how good I have it. My parents have worked really hard to give me the life I have. I am grateful for the fact that I am able to go to an extremely expensive and great private school, a thing a lot of kids can't say. I have always gone to private schools with good education and staff, making my learning experience better than a lot.      Another thing I am grateful for are my friends and family. Anytime I need people to hang out with or talk to I can go to my friends and family. They are both always there for me no matter what. Imagine how boring life would be without friends. Imagine how unstable and bad life would be without family. They are two very great things.

Strengths and Challenges

     As writers, we all have our strengths and challenges. From quotations to organization, people do some things well and they do others bad. As a writer his year I've noticed that I am pretty good at coining together quotations, citing them correctly with the write format, and using the most effective quote I can. I noticed this in the research paper when I had my conference with Dr D. She said that I embedded my quotes really well and that I used pretty effective quotes as well. But, I didn't have the greatest feedback on everything...      One thing I struggled with as a writer this year is my organization. I haven't always been able to put all my thoughts onto a paper while also being able to organize them correctly and put everything in the right spot. Free Post: Thanksgiving Day

     One of my favorite times of the year, Thanksgiving. My day started off with waking up to the smell of turkey and all kinds of other foods. I went downstairs into the kitchen where my mom was cooking. She made me go back upstairs because I had to take a shower and get dressed and stuff. When I came back down I talked to my family and watched football until dinner was ready.      As the day went by, my God Family visited to come spend the day at our house. We ate and then sat around the table and talked. Then we played some bored games and chilled. We watched more football and caught up with each other. It was a great day.
