Page 91 Passage

The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.  Once there was this and that; and now--and the ship had gone. [... Jack refusing to give Piggy the floor when he has the conch...]
"The rules!" shouted Ralph.  "You're breaking the rules!"
"Who cares?"
Ralph summoned his wits.
"Because the rules are the only thing we've got!"
But Jack was shouting against him.
"Bollocks to the rules!  We're strong--we hunt!  If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down!  We'll close in and beat and beat and beat--!" (91)

This passage is very symbolic to the relationship between Jack and Ralph and Piggy in LOTF to me. First of all, it's one of the most memorable times in the book, when the ship passes by and they don't get saved. This is the main breaking point where everything goes to chaos and a lot of the slanders lose hope. Then we move on to Jack disrespecting Piggy as usual. He won't let Piggy speak his mind or express his opinion even though he has the conch. Then we move on to the fact that Ralph is trying to keep order and stick to the rules, but Jack just won't allow it.

To me this passage is enough to show Jack's true colors and his disobedience to the rules. he even says, "Bollocks to the rules!" which is typical Jack to me. No matter what Piggy and Ralph do, it seems as if Jack is always in opposition and trying to shoot them down. The author did a really good job in this passage expressing the reaction between Jack and Ralph and Jack and Piggy.
